X Factor: Could we be set for biggest reality TV shock of all time?

Published:

If you read our X Factor preview last week, you’ll know that we tipped Emily Middlemas’ odds to take a huge fall after ‘Fright Night’ provided her with the perfect song choice. Lo and behold, while you could have got odds of 8/1 on her winning the show at the time that article was published, it’s now just 10/3 for the 18-year-old to steal what looked like being Matt Terry’s crown.

But, if the latest odds are anything to go by, there could be an even bigger surprise on the cards, one that would undoubtedly be the most shocking in the history of reality television.

When I say Honey, you say… X Factor 2016 winner?

Somehow, the ‘North Weezy’ native now has a 12/1 chance of winning the whole show, odds which can only be bettered by three other acts.

Though that still makes her an outsider for the crown, it’s looking more likely with every passing week that the Harrow-born rapper can cause an upset – especially given that she was priced at 100/1 back in August.

And punters who backed her at those humongous odds must now be quietly confident that she’ll go all the way. She even has the backing of all four judges, who have already given her two standing ovations in four weeks.

For yet another week, Sharon Osbourne’s act stands more chance of winning the show than she does of being the next contestant to be eliminated.

And on the topic of elimination, Four of Diamonds are now 6/4 favourites to face the boot next, despite the X Factor Jukebox throwing out the theme of Boyband v Girlband.

Meanwhile, it’ll be interesting to see what Nicole Scherzinger comes up with for Ryan Lawrie. The 20-year-old has been saved by the lifeline vote for three weeks in a row, meaning the pressure is certainly on him to have his best week of the series so far. Luckily he’s been blessed with a theme he should excel in.
