The movie week X Factor theme has become a biennial event, showing its face most recently in series four, six and eight of the talent show.
Movie week is back again for week three of series 10 and this could give a clue to at least one of the acts that will find themselves in the bottom two.
In all three previous examples of movie week, there has been one act from the girls’ category involved in the sing-off, while when the theme was last used previous to this, the girls didn’t have their own group and were instead a part of the 18-24 camp.
Movie week was rolled out in week two of the fourth series, with Alisha Bennett from the girls ending up in the bottom two, before being saved by the judges at the expense of Daniel DeBourg.
Lucie Jones was eliminated in week five of series six, as Jedward surviving via the deadlock scenario and then in series eight, Amelia Lily survived in a week-seven deadlock battle with Craig Colton.
This may be no more than coincidence, but it does offer a reason as to why one of Nicole Scherzinger’s girls could be under threat in week three, with the X Factor betting suggesting that this is most likely to be Abi Alton.
Abi’s performance of Kylie Minogue’s ‘Can’t Get You Out Of My Head’ didn’t get rave reviews in week two and there are feelings that not only is she quite a weak singer, but her personality is a little on the dull side.
She also appears to suffer more from nerves than the majority of the other X Factor finalists.
It is 6/4 in the X Factor odds that Abi is involved in the sing-off in week three and 4/1 that she is eliminated.
