Paul O’Grady favourite to be next Countdown host

Published:

Paul O’Grady is the early favourite with our traders to become the next host of Countdown.

The Liverpudlian is fancied as a 4/1 shot to replace Nick Hewer, or there’s a 9/2 chance Eamonn Holmes switches his allegiance to Channel 4 following his recent axing from This Morning on ITV.

Susan Calman and Shane Richie share odds of 5/1 apiece, with Matt Baker and Colin Murray just behind at 11/2.

Broadcasting stalwart Moira Stuart is next in line at 6/1, along with Matt Lucas and Jane Garvey at the same odds.

Jessica O’Reilly of Ladbrokes said: “Paul’s the perfect fit for Countdown and it looks like he could be the next host of the iconic Channel 4 show.”

She added: “Although, given that Eamonn is going to have a lot more spare time on his hands soon it’s possible he could be lured away from ITV.”
