In Britain we seem to love the weirdos and bizarre acts that we don’t know whether to laugh or cry when we see them. And that’s why this week’s Britain’s Got Talent was an absolute belter.
Some credibility for the country’s talents was saved by the fantastic Revelation Avenue later in the show, with Amanda Holden sending the soulful singers straight through to the live shows.
However, the now 6/1 shots couldn’t detract from the feeling that this was one of the most barmy audition episodes ever, as we recall some of our highlights.
There was only one place we can start off really, with Krystyna Lennon’s hypnotic German Spitz dividing many on social media with regards to her credibility.
‘Princess’ wowed the studio audience by apparently putting a select panel – and Ant and Dec – to sleep by simply staring into their eyes.
Simon Cowell wasn’t having any of it, that was until he volunteered as the next dummy. Real or fake? Who knows? But it made for good telly!
From a hypnotic dog, to a man dressed as a nun on a motorised piano.
His talent maybe wasn’t quite so obvious, but Matthew Hunt’s ‘act’ certainly had us chuckling, as he drove round the stage belting out ‘Give Me Oil In My Lamp’.
Elton John he was not…
It’s fair to say that a man in his 40s or 50 dancing around the stage on mini-skateboards to ‘You Raise Me Up’ delivered as much as it promised this weekend.
Feng Xue couldn’t even get through the whole song before he came off his tiny mode of transport, so it was no surprise to see him given the red cross, although Simon’s ‘hypnosis’ denied him of the full house.
Though not as strange as the above acts, and a ten-fold improvement in the talent stakes, hula-hoop dances Lisa Sampson had to make our crazy list this week.
Let’s face it, who doesn’t want to see a dancer turn themselves into a giant slinky?
Four yeses mean Sampson heads through as a 66/1 shot for glory and our pick to out-hula her odds.
