Caroline Wozniacki and Vera Zvonareva must be sick of the sight of each other this year, but they are set to face off for a fifth time in 2010 in a bid to reach the final of the WTA Championship.
The pair have already guaranteed that they will occupy the top two places in the world rankings next season through their performances in Doha, but it is Zvonareva who perhaps brings the best form into the semi-final.
She won all three of her round robin matches in the White Group, including an impressive straight-sets success over Kim Clijsters to confirm that she progressed as group winner.
World number one Wozniacki has not been so dominant and needed three sets to scrape by French Open winner Francesco Schiavone to ease through.
Wozniacki and Zvonareva have locked horns six times in total with three wins each, while they are also equal in their four matches this year and their four career showdowns on hard courts.
Despite Zvonareva’s form, it is Wozniacki who has won both meetings this year in finals of hard court tournaments, at the Rogers Cup in August and then in a far tighter three sets at the China Open.
Meanwhile, the Dane also won their only previous WTA Championships clash 12 months ago and is 8/11 to beat Zvonareva again and confirm her position as the deserving world number one.
Zvonareva will take confidence from the fact that she got the better of Wozniacki on the hard courts of Roland Garros to win their semi-final clash at the US Open this year.
She is 1/1 to beat Wozniacki and greater value could be found in backing Zvonareva to win in three sets, which can be backed at 3/1.
Wozniacki is 11/4 to qualify for the final with a three-set victory. See the full Wozniacki vs Zvonareva match betting odds market.
