Laura Robson expressed her displeasure via the medium of Twitter last night after her first round match with Angelique Kerber was cancelled at 8pm, but it means the British junior will line up alongside Heather Watson and Anne Keothavong today.

Of the three Watson has the best chance of progressing according to the Wimbledon odds, and it would seem Anne Keothavong faces a real battle in her second round match with Andrea Petkovic.

Laura Robson vs Angelique Kerber

It’s going to be tough for Robson to progress today seeing as she lost in the first round of both her Wimbledon warm-up tournaments, but in Kerber she faces an opponent who comes to Wimbledon without a warm-up match on grass.

Kerber is the 1/2 favourite and patriotic punters can take Robson at 6/4, however the German is the better bet having given Caroline Wozniacki a tough game in her last start in Copenhagen a fortnight ago.

Robson is still learning her trade and punters are better off sticking with the German to win in three sets at 3/1.

Heather Watson vs Mathilde Johansson

Johansson may be ranked 36 places higher than Watson but the Frenchwoman finds herself the underdog for today’s game with the British number one.

Watson is the 4/9 favourite to win after impressing in Birmingham a fortnight ago and you can guarantee she’ll have the backing of the crowd on court number three, but her opponent is more than capable of springing an upset.

This match is a lot tighter than the odds suggest which means the value is in backing Johansson at 13/8, but backing Watson to win 2-1 at 3/1 and Johansson to win 2-1 at 7/2 would return a tidy profit.

Anne Keothavong vs Petra Kvitova

Kvitova finds herself the subject of the underdog gamble at this year’s Wimbledon championships and Keothavong will have to spring a huge surprise if she is to progress.

Kvitova is 1/16 to win and while Keothavong’s game continues to decline, the 1/5 for Kvitova to win 2-0 looks nailed on and the 3/4 for under 18.5 games is the pick of the days betting.
