The US Open has already thrown up plenty of surprises. But Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal are out to ensure they can stem the tide.

The duo are each in second round action this evening, with Federer taking on Mikhail Youzhny, before Nadal meets Taro Daniel in the early hours of Friday morning.

And the odds suggest that both tennis legends will be sailing through.

Federer will be out to make amends after a first round scare when taken to five sets by American teenager Frances Tiafoe, and is 1/25 to see off world number 101 Youzhny.

The Fed-Express also boasts an impeccable 16-0 record against his Russian opponent, so it’s no surprise a 3-0 victory is odds-on at 3/10.

As for Nadal, the world number one had an easier time of it in his opening encounter, defeating Dusan Lajovic in straight sets.

Next up for the Spaniard is Japan’s Daniel, but odds of 1/50 suggest Nadal is all-but through already.

The pair have never met on court before, but a straight sets win for Nadal is 1/4.

Elsewhere Tomas Berdych and Juan Martin del Potro will look to take advantage of the fact that 12 of the top 30 seeds have already been knocked out or retired from the tournament.

Berdych is 1/4 to see off Alexander Dolgopolov, while 2009 US Open champion Del Potro is 1/20 to make round three against Spanish qualifier Adrian Menendez-Maceiras.

The women’s draw is again proving to be a wide-open tournament, with four of the top-seven seeds already out.

That could open the door for French Open champion Jelena Ostapenko, who is 8/15 to defeat Sorana Cirstea.

Number one seed Karolina Pliskova is 1/14 to beat Nicole Gibbs, while 1/6 says Agnieszka Radwanska gets the better of Yulia Puntintseva.
