Odds slashed on Stoke City ace making stunning Rangers return

It seems Rangers fans could be seeing a familiar face at Ibrox before the day ends, with odds slashed on former hero Charlie Adam returning to his boyhood club.

The Stoke City midfielder has been a regular fixture in Mark Hughes’ side in recent seasons, but with Joe Allen and Ramadan Sobhi having arrived in the Potteries this summer, the experienced Adam could find regular football beyond him.

But having finished last season in fine form, there’s every indication the 30-year-old still has a huge amount to offer, and Gers boss Mark Warburton appears to agree, with odds of a deal for the midfielder tumbling from 8/1 to just 7/4.

Ibrox was certainly a happy home for the Dundee-born midfielder, who scored an impressive 18 goals in 87 appearances for the Teddy Bears, while he also won promotion and a Challenge Cup during a brief but fruitful spell at St Mirren.

With Transfermarkt.co.uk estimating Adam’s value at £3.83m, now looks to be the perfect time for Warburton to bring the Scotland international home – with his value likely to skyrocket if he extends the single year left on his contract at Stoke.

Rangers head into a crucial Old Firm clash against Celtic next, with the Glasgow giants occupying the top two spots in the Ladbrokes Premiership.

It’s 17/4 the Gers taste victory at Celtic Park, but if they can bring in a midfield maestro of Adam’s quality ahead of that crunch clash, that price could prove very good value indeed.
