Clock is ticking on Rangers deal for Inverness’ injury-time hero

Published:

Clubs in Scotland may have an extra hour to finalise their Transfer Deadline Day dealings but Rangers will need to get a move on if they’re to capture Inverness Caledonian Thistle’s Josh Meekings.

The 23-year-old defender was the Caley Jags’ last-minute hero on Saturday with his goal against St. Johnstone securing all three points in dramatic fashion.

That strike and a series of fine displays for the Highlands outfit has put the Glasgow giants on red alert with manager Mark Warburton believed to be keen on the Bury St. Edmunds native.

The Gers have already moved to shore up their defence by bringing in former Arsenal man Phillipe Senderos on a one-year-deal.

However, with rumours circulating on Social Media that Meekings is in line for a medical at Ibrox it may be that Warburton has another hand to play before the window slams shut.

Bringing in defensive reinforcements has been a key priority throughout the summer so it’s no surprise to see a player of Meekings’ ability continuously linked with a move.

However, Rangers need to move fast before the deadline at midnight. More importantly, the Ladbrokes Premiership outfit will want to get their man before next weekend’s massive derby against rivals Celtic.
