Four of the Ladbrokes Premiership’s top sides make up two enticing League Cup Semi-Final ties this weekend. And we’re previewing the weekend’s Hampden double-header, kicking off with the Hibees against the Hoops on Saturday lunchtime.
Hibernian v Celtic (12:15, Saturday 21 October)
Hibs came within 11 minutes of ending Celtic’s unbeaten domestic run last month, before Callum McGregor spared the Hoops’ blushes.
An entertaining encounter was always on the cards, with both of these sides very strong coming forward.
The Cabbage head into this weekend’s meeting having scored in 12 of their last 13 games. Meanwhile, the Hoops have found the net in an incredible 63 domestic games on the trot, a run dating back to April 2016.
That means Both Teams to Score looks a good call at odds of 5/6. However, with the Hoops’ dominance of Scottish football showing no signs of letting up, it’s Celtic to Win and BTTS which we reckon offers the best value at 9/5.
In the match betting, Brendan Rodgers’ men are 1/3 to win in 90 minutes, with Hibs 13/2 and 18/5 for this game to go the distance.
Rangers v Motherwell (14:30, Sunday 22 October)
Both of these sides have identical records over the course of the last five games – three wins, one draw and a loss. That means we’re expecting a close-run encounter, especially with the past two meetings ending 1-1 and 2-1 (to Rangers) respectively.
As with the Saturday clash, this one should produce goals. The Gers are the Premiership’s second-highest scorers, while the Steelmen have scored two or more goals in seven of their last eight games.
Louis Moult is 17/10 to add to his season’s tally of eight goals anytime, while Rangers ace Alfredo Morelos is even-money to find the net. However, the best bet Anytime Goalscorer bet could be on Peter Hartley.
The Well defender has registered in three of his past four games, and is 13/2 to get amongst the goals at Hampden Park.
In the match betting, a Draw looks to offer the best value at 16/5, while Rangers are 4/9 favourites to win in 90 minutes and a Motherwell victory priced up at 24/5.
