Dundee v Aberdeen: Expect Dons to edge close contest
The latest round of Ladbrokes Premiership action kicks off tonight with Dundee versus Aberdeen. On current form you’ve got to fancy Derek McInnes’ men to collect three points – but we don’t think it will be so easy.
The Dons are 11/20 favourites to pick up a third successive win – and move 11 points clear of Rangers in the process.
But though our traders make Dundee unlikely victors at 5/1, there’s reason to believe they’ll give the Dons a good game.
Paul Hartley’s men may have lost their last three, but runaway leaders Celtic were made to work hard for a 2-1 win last time out at Dens Park.
Plus, Hartley landed February’s Ladbrokes Premiership Manager of the Month award, in a spell which saw Dundee defeat Rangers on home soil and hammer Motherwell 5-1.
So we expect a close contest this evening, albeit one which should end with an Aberdeen victory.
The Dons haven’t lost any of their last seven Premiership visits to Dundee and have developed a taste in recent weeks for grinding out wins.
McInnes has seen his side claim three of their last four league victories by a single-goal margin.
A 1-0 success for the visitors can be backed at 5/1, but with the Dark Blues netting in seven of their last nine home games, a 2-1 Aberdeen victory looks tempting at 15/2.
But if you can’t call the correct score, simply backing an away win by a one-goal margin looks good at 12/5.
Adam Rooney leads the First Goalscorer market at 3/1, and the Irish forward has enjoyed plenty of success at Dens Park, netting in three of his last four visits to Dens Park.
Plus, you can back the 28-year-old to score in an Aberdeen win at 9/5.
A win here would put Dundee right in the mix for a top-six finish ahead of the slip, but everything suggests that Aberdeen will have just a little too much for them tonight.
