Three Cowdenbeath talents who could give Rangers a fright tonight

Central Park - Cowdenbeath

The cold snap saw this pair’s meeting called off 12 days ago. But Cowdenbeath and Rangers are now ready to finally face off at evocative Central Park tonight, in the Scottish Cup Fourth Round.

The Glasgow giants are heavily odds-on at 1/18 for victory in Fife. But the Blue Brazil will be desperate to give Steven Gerrard’s men a shock.

Cowdenbeath are 33/1 for victory, and 12/1 to force a replay at Ibrox. So, who are the key men the Gers need to keep their eye on in this clash – live on Premier 1 from 7:45pm?

Robbie Deas (CB)

Facing Rangers is a big deal for any Ladbrokes League 2 player. But when you’re a Celtic loanee looking to impress those back at Parkhead, that’s a whole new level!

Such is the case for 18-year-old centre-back Deas, one of Cowdenbeath’s best performers this term.

A surprisingly powerful player for his age, the combative Hoops loanee is also comfortable with the ball at his feet. And to cap it off, he’s a threat from set pieces.

That was proved in the second round win over Clyde, where he fired in a bullet header from Fraser Mullen’s free-kick. Set-pieces are possibly the hosts’ best chance of a goal here. And you can grab a whopping 40/1 on him scoring Anytime.

Kyle Miller (CM)

One of the central pair in Gary Bollan’s tried-and-tested 4-4-2 system, Miller is also among the few current players to have faced the Gers before.

He played three times against them in the 2015-16 Championship season – a campaign where the Blue Brazil lost just 1-0 at Ibrox and drew 0-0 at home.

In a pretty young squad, he could be a crucial calming head, and potentially tie the Rangers defence in knots.

The tricky midfielder has racked up three assists in the last seven league games, including one in the 4-1 tonking of Elgin City at Borough Briggs. He’ll be crucial if Cowdenbeath can come good on the 10/1 to Score 2+ Goals in this fixture.

Jordyn Sheerin (CF)

He might not be the most mobile striker at this level, but the 29-year-old has proved himself an absolute handful for defenders in a Cowdenbeath shirt.

He’s netted eight goals this season, and tends to have a knack for the big occasion.

July’s clash with Championship side Inverness Caledonian Thistle saw the bulky hitman grab a brace, while he also struck twice in a League Cup clash with third-tier Raith Rovers.

Rangers are, of course, a different kettle of fish. But the likes of Conor Goldson and Joe Worrall could well be unsettled by the hosts’ aerial threat and direct approach.

We go 5/1 for Sheerin to notch, while the former Livingston striker is 22/1 to break the deadlock.
