Stephen Hendry could be set for a sensational return to the Crucible after announcing his plans to come out of retirement.

The seven-time World Snooker Champion declared his plan to return to the professional game and our traders have chalked Hendry up at 33/1 to qualify for next year’s World Championships.

Hendry bowed out in 2012 after his World Championship quarter-final exit to Stephen Maguire, but it looks like The Ice Man wants some more.

As anticipation grows, if he were to make it to the Crucible, 2500/1 says he wins the tournament for an eighth time. Elsewhere, 33/1 says Hendry scores a 147 break in any ranking event this season – a feat he’s managed 11 times.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Hendry’s return is music to the ears of every snooker fan around the world and there’s every chance he makes it to the Crucible next year.”
