Neil Robertson was the only favourite in the Masters betting to progress out of his first round matches and his reward is a match with Ronnie O’Sullivan’s conqueror.
Robertson is now the short-priced 9/4 favourite to win the Ladbrokes Mobile Masters after the scalps of O’Sullivan, John Higgins, Mark Selby and Mark Williams were taken in the first round.
But the Australian faces a tough battle on his hands against Mark Allen and Allen is 6/5 in the betting to progress to the semi-final.
Robertson is odds-on at 8/13 to beat Allen but while the Australian may have ended the underdog curse in the first round, an in-form Allen is a lot tougher to beat than an out-of-sorts Stephen Hendry.
The two players have only met twice before, but both matches came in 2008 and while they shared a win apiece, it’s difficult to take any form from two years ago considering the progress the two players have made.
A tight match is expected between the two and the favoured result is 6-4 to Robertson and is priced at 5/1 in the Snooker Masters betting.
But Allen offers plenty of value in the Masters frame betting and is 13/2 to edge the match 6-5 although the Northern Irishman is a much more tempting 7/1 to win the match 6-4.
Robertson, the current World Champion, was unable to make a century break in his opening round match with Hendry and the Australian is 1/1 to continue that run and make no centuries in this match.
147’s have been scarce in this tournament so far but when 16 of the world’s best players get together, it can only be a matter of time before it happens and it’s 80/1 that either Robertson or Allen can produce one.
