Aviva Premiership: 3 best bets for Saracens v Northampton

Published:

Before many of Saracens and Northampton’s England stars head off to New Zealand for the final two Test matches against the All Blacks there is the small matter of the Aviva Premiership final.

Oliver Yew picks out three of the best bets as the best two sides in England go head-to-head at Twickenham.

Saracens to beat Northampton @ 4/7

Twickenham has become a second home for Saracens in recent years with Mark McCall’s side winning on five of their six previous visits to English rugby union’s HQ in all competitions.

Northampton will prove a stern test of their title winning credentials but Sarries, who finished top of the Aviva Premiership table in the regular season, ended a four-game losing streak against the Saints in April and will be confident of another victory to lift the title.

Saracens to win by 1-5 points @ 9/2

There have been plenty of occasions in recent years when the Premiership final has been a touch one sided but don’t expect that to be the case this year.

Saracens and Northampton are the two best teams in England with the season coming down to this one game expect a nail biting affair at Twickenham.

And with the belief Saracens will be too strong for Saints, backing them to win by 1-5 points at 9/2 looks an excellent bet.

George North to score at anytime @ 12/5

The Welshman is an electrifying talent and has fitted seamlessly into the Northampton side this season.

The 22-year-old has scored nine tries in just 21 appearances in his first season for the East Midlands club and can create something out absolutely nothing so the Saracens defence will need to be on their guard.

As a big game player it would be no surprise to see the British and Irish Lion crossing the whitewash at Twickenham.
