Van Der Sar favourite to follow in Scholes’ footsteps

EDWIN VAN DER SAR is just 10/1 to come out of retirement, according to Ladbrokes.

The firm fancy the Dutch stopper to return between the sticks should United’s keeper crisis worsen. Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville earns a 50/1 quote to re-join Scholes.

Sol Campbell is a 100/1 chance to revisit the Emirates or White Hart Lane this season and outsider Alan Shearer can be backed at 5,000/1 to pull on the famous number 9 shirt once more.

Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: “Manchester United look like the team who need the most help. If Shearer did put his boots back on he’d be a short price to out score Andy Carroll.”
