Liam Fox priced at 33/1 to become World Trade Organisation leader

Liam Fox is the rank outsider to be named as the next leader of the World Trade Organisation, so say our traders.

With the UK set to nominate Fox as a candidate, we’ve installed him as a 33/1 shot in the betting to replace Roberto Azevedo as director-general.

That puts the former Secretary of State for International Trade some way down the list of potential front-runners, which is headed by Kenya’s Amina Mohamed at 6/4.

Nigerian candidate Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala comes next at 3/1 before Abdel-Hamid Mamdouh of Egypt at 6/1.

Jessica O’Reilly of Ladbrokes said: “As far as the odds are concerned it’s not looking good for Liam Fox and the UK.”
