Labour Evens to couple Stoke by-election win with Copeland defeat

It’s a big day for Labour, who are fighting hard to retain both their Stoke-on-Trent Central and Copeland seats in by-elections. But it seems Jeremy Corbyn is set to lose at least one.

With the Conservatives 4/11 to win Copeland, Labour’s best hope is to keep hold of their seat in Staffordshire, and 8/15 says they’ll do just that.

And we’ve combined the two outcomes to produce an even-money By-Election Double for Labour to win Stoke but lose Copeland today. .

Meanwhile, it’s 5/2 that beleaguered leader Jeremy Corbyn can celebrate a double Labour win, but equally, the same price is available for the party to lose both former strongholds.

Corbyn’s quarrels over Nuclear Power look set to do the damage in Cumbria, with Copeland employment relying heavily on the nearby Sellafield plant.

And while UKIP had been odds-on to take Stoke at the start of the month, a series of public scandals has seen Paul Nuttall’s chances drift to 2/1.

We’re 11/8 that the party picks up 20-30 per cent of the vote in Staffordshire, with 7/4 saying they claim 30-40 per cent.

And with 4/6 saying they land 10-20 per cent of the Copeland vote, even if UKIP don’t win they’re likely to take crucial votes away from Labour.

The Tories are 12/1 to snatch both seats, while 66/1 says UKIP do the double while the Lib Dems are 100/1.
