The five million to one upset treble from 2016 could be set to fall apart at the seams in 2017 according to the latest odds.
Leicester City, Brexit and Donald Trump teamed up to deliver the biggest upsets in history last year, but just a matter of weeks into the new year the odds of all three unravelling have collapsed at a rate of knots.
5000/1 Premier League champions Leicester are now just 9/4 to be relegated as they hover dangerously close to the drop zone, leaving them on course to become the first title holders to be relegated since Manchester City in the 1937-38 season.
Meanwhile, as every day passes and the latest Donald Trump controversy rears its head, it’s now just 7/2 with the firm that he is replaced as POTUS before the end of this year.
And finally, with the nation still divided over Brexit we’ve cut the odds that Article 50 is not invoked in 2017, which rates the 2016 treble at 50/1 to perform a major U-turn before the clock strikes midnight on December 31.
Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: “It’s safe to say that 2016 was the most unpredictable year, but 2017 is already giving it a run for its money.
It’s not out of the realms of possibility the mammoth upsets from last year come full circle this year.”
