The racing keeps running in the USA and our man Joe Kyne gives us the lowdown on a double header of meetings over in the States…
Will Rogers Downs
Generally speaking Floyd Wethey Jr (23%strike-rate) and Ty Kennedy (27% strike-rate) are the two best jockeys tofollow at Will Rogers Downs. However, one man riding at the top of his abilityright now is David Cabrera.
The Mexican native is currently operating at 28% strike-rate and has couple of rides for trainer-in-form Karl Broberg. The duo’s best chance will probably be in race 4 (20.45) where Cabrera will partner Frugal Betty. The filly’s looking to get back on track after a defeat last time. This speedy daughter of Kennedy had won well over six furlongs on her penultimate start and undoubtedly has more class than some of her rivals in this field.
The drop-in class means she’s in an easier race here,but the question remains as to whether she really wants to be running over adistance this far.
The last race (23.45) is extremely open and potentially the best contest on the whole card. Despite not being worth very much, it features an intriguing clash between Quicksilver and Fred’s Country Boy.
Both have each won their last two starts atWill Rogers. The former had no problem stepping up to a mile last time. Drawingclear by three lengths for an easy victory under Wethey Jr who takes the rideagain here.
Fred’s Country Boy made hard work of his win last timebut had previously won well (both times over a mile).
He makes his first start for new trainer CharlieLivers having been claimed last time. An interesting match-up for sure.

Tampa Bay Downs
Anyone who has been following the Florida actionrecently will know that around Tampa there isn’t much between defendingchampion Samy Camacho and his closest rival Antonio Gallardo.
Daniel Centeno has been trying to bridge the gap tothe leading pair and despite an exemplary strike-rate of 23%, he still trailstheir number of winners by some margin.
Although it’s likely to come down to the ability and fitness of their mounts the last race (21.30) at Tampa sees all 3 jocks in action – all aboard newcomers.
Centeno rides Tilsa for JonathanThomas – a trainer who generally operates at a very high strike-rate. Thomas hasa respectable conversion rate with debutantes and looks to have a nice filly inthis daughter of Flatter.
Her breeding does suggest that she might be bettersuited to the dirt and it’s interesting that he opts for this turf race for herfirst outing.
Curly Wurly the mount of Samy Camacho looks, on paper, tohave a better chance of entering the winners enclosure for Christophe Clement.
The ace trainer is known for sending out winners ontheir first start, so expect this well-bred filly to be sharp for her firstattempt. Gallardo will be looking to spoil the party on the most expensivehorse in the race.
Stolen Holiday was a $750,000 purchase as a yearling and isa daughter of the mighty War Front. Her trainer Claude McGaughey III isn’tknown for first time out winners, but her owner will be hoping for a specialperformance or at least some promise bearing in mind her mammoth price-tag.
The big question is which of top jockey willprevail? And more importantly, will any of their mounts be good enough to beattheir rivals with more experience?
