The racing continues Stateside, with Fonner Park in Nebraska bringing us a nine-race dirt card Tuesday night going into the early hours of Wednesday morning.

The Cornhusker State venue is already more than 100 races deepinto its Spring Meeting and our trader Jonathan Priddey has looked ahead at the jockey and trainer to watch out for…

Armando Martinez

Veteran jockey Armando Martinez has been in the saddle since 1985 but the senior statesman is stillthe man to beat at Fonner Park with 25 winners from 108 rides this spring whilefinishing in the top three with 55% of his mounts.

The leading rider often links up with his wife Kelli Martinez, who is the trainer in charge of Fonner Park-based powerhouse MLHStables. With Armando flying high, it’s no surprise to see Kelli also toppingthe charts with 16 winners from 49 runners so far this spring.

The husband and wife dream team link up twice on Tuesday eveningwith Armando slated to pick up eight mounts in total.

The first MLH Stables runner will be Talk Big Money (22:54),who looks to break his maiden on his third start for the stable.

He improved massively from his first run to his second andshouldn’t need much more to get the job done from a good draw in stall 3,especially with main rival Drastic needing to do it the hard way the outsidepost.

Their second chance comes via Mean Erika (01:09)in a competitive stakes event. This filly needs a little improvement on thebare form but should be marked up after suffering wide trips of late. With Armando set to scrape thepaint from the inside post, perhaps she can be a threat here.

David Anderson

Trainer David Anderson has enjoyed a good spring at Fonner including victory in the coveted Ogataul Stakes with stable star Phlash Drive.

He’ll be looking to add to his haul of 10 wins from 51 runners with six chances on Tuesday. Perhaps his best hopes will be in the 00:42 with Lovethatcause and Scooter’s Boy on Wednesday morning.

With at least four confirmed pace angles in the race, habitualdeep-closer Scooter’s Boy could be in the right place to pick up the pieces.

That’s how it played out when Scooter’s Boy booted away to winassertively on his debut for Anderson in a similar race last week.

Armando Martinez booked mounts: L B Gold (22:00), Talk Big Money (22:54), Stef’s Guy (23:21), Giant Gamble (23:48), Chilango (00:15), Popcorn For Eddie (00:42), Mean Erika (01:09), Air Assault (01:36)

David Anderson declared runners: Run For Matty & Kido’s Sling Shot (22:54), Nattytyme (23:21), Lovethatcause & Scooter’s Boy (00:42), Cline Time (01:09)
