US Racing Betting Tips: Our man on the runners and riders

Published:

The action over in the USA continues apace and our man in the know Joseph Klyne gives us the lowdown on the best of Friday’s rides…

Tampa BayDowns

Leadingjockeys Samy Camacho and Antonio Gallardo are back in action.

Camacho is in scintillating form having ridden a 927/1 4-timer on Thursday night and it could pay to follow his rides again.

Althoughit doesn’t look like he’ll be on any bankers, all his rides look to have solidchances. The ace will partner Free Dancer for Gerald Bennett (24% strike-rate this season) whogives the gelding another chance on turf. One mile was probably toofar for him last time and this drop back in trip should definitely play to hisstrengths.

Camacho rides: Brandt (5.24), Free Dancer (5.53), Nauti Buoy (6.52), Lady Breanna (7.22), Exchequer (7.53), Ria Munk (8.24), Red Curls (8.55)

GulfstreamPark – Trainer/Jockey Combination

One jockeythat has been mentioned plenty of times in recent previews is Luis Saezand make no mistake, the man is a winning machine.

Like, FrankieDettori at Ascot or Adam Kirby at Lingfield, Saez is untouchable at Gulfstreamright now.

He teamsup with Gulfstream Champion Trainer Todd Pletcher for three rides and looks tohave an excellent chance of being in the winner’s enclosure more than once overthe course of the evening.

In thelast race of the evening the pair will be looking for success with Tapit ToRide, a lightly raced four-year-old who was purchased for $250,000 as ayearling.

In one ofthe best contests of the evening (8.39) Pletcher fields two runners with Saezpartnering Ellis Island. His other runner Fried Rice King looks tohave run to a similar level of form, but the jockey bookings give a hint as towhich horse is expected to improve more.

However, the pair will face stiff competition from Chad Brown’s runner – CandyMachine. The colt ran to a high level and wasn’t beaten far on his firstouting, this step up in trip looks to be the right move.

Saez/Pletcher: Ellis Island (8.39), Off Topic (9.41), Tapit To Ride (10.12)

Race to Watch

Gulfstream Park – 6.00

It looks like owner Stephen Hamilton might be a fanof Game of Thrones as his filly Messandei is named after oneof the main characters in the hit show.

Although the trainer doesn’t have a scorchingstrike-rate with newcomers, it’s respectable and the sale price of this horseas a yearling suggests she could be significantly better than some of hercompetitors.

However, it might take a special performance to beat likely favourite Princesa Crystal. Bred in Great Britain by Godolphin, she has a lovely pedigree and has been consistently improving. Only denied a first victory by a neck on her penultimate start, she should be right there at the finish.

It could well be those two that fight it out on theturf in the first at Gulfstream and it is an exciting race in prospect.
