Cliffs Of Moher tops the Coral-Eclipse betting list following Monday’s declarations but the Aidan O’Brien-trained entrant faces some stiff competition.
The Dee Stakes winner and Epsom Derby runner-up is currently the 11/4 favourite to land the Group 1 spoils at Sandown on Saturday 8 July.
But the three-year-old isn’t the only lively contender to consider.
St. James’s Palace Stakes victor Barney Roy isn’t far behind with the Godolphin-owned charge the 4/1 joint-second favourite alongside Martyn Meade’s Eminent.
The latter finished fourth behind Cliffs Of Moher at Epsom while the former got the better of stablemate Churchill at Royal Ascot.
And as far as our odds-compilers are concerned this year’s Eclipse could well turn into a three-way battle between the trio.
Prince of Wales’s Stakes flop Jack Hobbs is next best at 13/2 with the runner-up of that contest, Decorated Knight, available at 7s.
Ulysses will also be re-opposing with the course and distance winner an 8/1 shot for glory.
Nicola McGeady of Ladbrokes said: “This year’s renewal looks really strong and despite money for Cliffs Of Moher, we have actually pushed his odds out given the strength of the opposition.”
