Camberley Two and Saucy Brown landed the gambles among the racing hacks yesterday but today’s most napped horse is up against it.
Four of the writers in the Racing Post naps competition have napped Coax in the 4.30 at Catterick, but only one of those pundits, Garry Owen of the Daily Record, is providing a profitable return for the month on the back of his naps.
Newsboy of the Daily Mirror, Whistler of the Sunday Telegraph and the Trading Post of the Racing Post are all providing a double figure loss for a £1 stake over the past month which puts a huge negative on Coax’s chances today.
16:30 Catterick: Coax – 9/4
A winner of a Class 6 handicap in May, Mark Johnston’s Coax is stepping back in class following a number of runs in Class 4 and 5 races for today’s Class 6 classified stakes.
A return to the faster ground should suit the three-year-old and on the basis of his run at Musselburgh 12 days ago, he is the horse to beat and rightly deserves hi favouritism.
But there are plenty of horses with something to prove in the race and the likes of Azimuth and Al Burkaan are also stepping back in class today.
There is definitely the possibility of a longer odds horse winning today and on the basis of the racing writers current form, punters should oppose Coax in the first and take an each-way chance on No Quarter.
4.00 Catterick: Jean De Roseau – 4/1
The North of the Racing Post is the most in-form tipster in the naps competition with a return of £15.85 to the £1 this month, and he fancies, along with two other tipsters, Jean De Roseau.
Favourite for this Class 5 handicap, Jean De Roseau has finished out of the places just twice in his last five starts and while he has plenty of contenders in Spiders Star, Danceintothelight and Drop The Hammer, Jean De Roseau can claim victory.
