ITV Racing Tips: Can Hello Youmzain sprint to cup victory at Haydock?

American band Green Day once sang Wake Me Up When September Ends, but how were they to know September would include Enable’s next stop en route to the Arc and a red-hot renewal of the Haydock Sprint Cup?
We reckon those boys look pretty foolish now, because this Saturday’s ITV Racing offering is not to be missed, with a bumper ten-race card from Haydock, Kempton and Ascot to enjoy.
As always, we’ve previewed the best of the action in our ITV Racing Tips.
HAYDOCK SPRINT CUP, 15:25 HAYDOCK, 6F
This is a race that regularly lives up to its billing, and this year is no different with as many as seven of the 13-strong field given a puncher’s chance, including dangerous outsider Glen Shiel.
Dream Of Dreams is the one who’s attracting the most attention ante-post following his demolition job to win by 7l in the Hungerford Stakes at Newbury last month. There’s no arguing that was an eye-catching performance, and the form has since been franked with runner-up Breathtaking Look subsequently landing a Group 3 at Deauville.
He looks primed for another big run here, but this is a much tougher contest and he’s yet to prove his form at the highest level, which leaves him vulnerable. With that in mind, Hello Youmzain could be the way to go. Kevin Ryan’s speedster won this contest 12 months ago and has form figures of 211 around Haydock over 6f.
The four-year-old won the Diamond Jubilee ahead of Dream of Dreams at Royal Ascot earlier in the season before bombing out in the July Cup and then bouncing back to finish a close-second to Space Blues in the Group 1 Prix Maurice De Gheest. He loves a bit of cut in the ground and should be bang there.
Others who merit consideration include Art Power, who ran too badly to be true in the Nunthorpe at York and is capable of much better, and Lope Y Fernandez, who was narrowly touched off in both the Prix Maurice De Gheest and the Prix Jean Prat.
SEPTEMBER STAKES, 14:35 KEMPTON, 1M 4F
Let’s not beat around the bush, Enable wins this race 99 times out of 100. John Gosden’s wonder-mare is a class above her rivals at Kempton and should make light work of this as she did en route to the Arc in 2018.
However, seven runners means there’s potential for each-way betting, and Prince Of Arran looks best placed to follow the Queen of the Turf home based on his third in this race 12 months ago.
Admittedly the seven-year-old did bomb out in the Ascot Gold Cup last time, but he ran creditably in the Sagaro Stakes at Newcastle prior to that. On the bare form, he’ll take all the beating for second.
OLD BOROUGH CUP, 14:50 HAYDOCK, 1M 6F
There are chances throughout the field in a fascinating renewal of the Old Borough Cup, and it’s certainly worth taking note of Reshoun for a trainer in Ian Williams who won this race in both 2018 (with Reshoun) and 2019.
The six-year-old has enjoyed a so-so campaign this time around but did win a competitive running of the Marsh Cup off 4lb lower in July. He loves the mud, like so many entered here, and could outrun his rather chunky odds.
Rajinsky was narrowly touched off that day and he’s another who pops up here bidding to end a severe bout of seconditus which has seen the Tom Dascombe-trained runner hit the post on the last three occasions.
There looks certain to be a big pot in him this season, and over his preferred trip of 1m 6f, he’s another who has the ability to run well from a favourable draw.
Of the remainder, Future Investment and Rhythmic Intent are both hiked 6lbs following recent wins but are big players over both distance and going, while old boy Euchen Glen warrants respect after his fifth in the Ebor.
SUPERIOR MILE, 13:45 HAYDOCK, 1M
Jim Crowley and Hamdam Al Maktoum have enjoyed considerable success this season and more could be on the way in the Superior Mile as Khaloosy bids to get back on track after defeat at Goodwood.
The Dubawi colt looked like something special when scoring in impressive fashion in the Britannia at Royal Ascot, but he couldn’t quite back that performance up on the Sussex Downs last time out.
There are excuses for that below-par effort, and he deserves another chance ahead of My Oberon, who may well have won that day were it not for interference from eventual winner Tilsit.
Stormy Antarctic ran well to finish second behind multiple Group 1 winner Persian King over 1m 1f at Chantilly in July. He’ll need to prove his credentials over the mile trip to get involved.
