ITV Racing Tips: Will Hello Youmzain follow up in the July Cup?

Hello Youmzain

There’s another super Saturday of racing to look forward to on ITV this weekend with no fewer than nine live contests across Ascot and Newmarket.

The action gets underway at 13:50 and includes the Summer Mile at 15:15 and the July Cup at 15:35 before rounding off with a proper bun-fight in the Bunbury Cup at 16:10.

It’s all set up to be another fascinating day on ITV, and we’ve previewed all of the feature action in our ITV Racing Tips.

RACE OF THE DAY – JULY CUP – NEWMARKET 15:35

Hello Youmzain won the Diamond Jubilee Stakes in impressive style at Royal Ascot and there looks to be a fair chance that he’ll follow up in the July Cup to claim a third career Group 1.

Kevin Ryan’s speedster produced a battling performance to see off a number who reoppose here last time out, and with a little bit of cut in the ground at Newmarket, conditions would appear to be in this favour.

He has form in the book against the likes of Sceptical and Khaadem, which suggests it’s Clive Cox and Golden Horde who rate as the biggest danger.

The trainer excels with his sprinters and he appears to have another star on his hands judging by the way the three-year-old beat off Kimari to win the Commonwealth Cup last month.

Elsewhere, Threat should be seen to better effect over this trip after fluffing his lines over a mile in the St James’s Palace, while Oxted impressed in the Abernant at Newmarket five weeks ago and may also be worth considering.

NEXT BEST – SUMMER MILE – ASCOT, 15:15

There are plenty of old favourites on show in the Summer Mile in a race which could go one of several ways.

Mohaather is given the best chance by our traders following his luckless run in the Queen Anne where problems in-running meant Dane O’Neill’s inmate had to settle for seventh in a performance that deserved more.

He’ll be there or thereabouts providing he doesn’t get caught in traffic, while consistent pair Lord Glitters and Zaaki should also give another good account.

The latter was touched off in this contest by a nose from the late Beat The Bank last year and should improve for his third on reappearance behind Century Dream in the Diomed Stakes.

Lord Glitters has form figures of 222618 around Ascot, with the two bigger numbers coming on soft and heavy ground. He loves it at this track and should get involved providing the rain stays away.

ONE TO WATCH – BUNBURY CUP – NEWMARKET, 16:10

History would suggest a favourable draw is required to win the Bunbury Cup with six of the last ten winners being returned from stall 14 or higher, including each of the last four.

That leads us to Motakhayyel for Richard Hannon. The four-year-old won at Newmarket last season and produced a fantastic effort to win the Buckingham Palace at Royal Ascot.

He’s still lightly-raced and with more progression almost a certainly, he should lay down a serious challenge.

Raising Sand also has a nice draw and deserves a chance away from Ascot following an unlucky run in the Royal Hunt Cup, while Spanish City ran a solid third in the Wokingham and is also capable of another bold bid.
