ITV Racing Tips: Act can seize his moment in Donny’s Spring Mile

Sacred Act - John Gosden

The Flat is back! Yes, the cycle begins again and as is tradition it’s the Lincoln Handicap that gets the British Flat Turf season underway this Saturday.

A total of 22 runners are set to go to post on Town Moor, in a race that’s become synonymous with big-priced winners.

More on that later.

We’re following the ITV Racing cameras to Doncaster and Kempton for our latest round of tips.

Here’s what’s caught our eye…

NAP – Sacred Act – 14:25 Doncaster

Trainer John Gosden has handled Sacred Act with plenty of care and this six-year-old can repay his handler in spades this weekend.

This son of Oasis Dream picked his way through the field to land a second career win in five outings on his previous appearance back in September 2016.

That Sandown success should hold our selection in good stead and it’s important to remember that this lightly-raced horse finished second behind the very smart Lightning Spear two years ago.

NB – Tullius– 15:00 Doncaster

As you’ll see below, we’ve gone each-way with a number of this week’s picks.

The main reason being there’s plenty of value to be had across the ITV card and one that particularly sticks out for us is track and trip winner Tullius.

Andrew Balding’s veteran took this contest two years ago and by and large has continued to give punters a run for their money since then.

His 14th-place finish on Champions Day last time out doesn’t tell the whole story with Jimmy Fortune’s mount badly hampered on that occasion.

Instead, focus on his near £500m in career earnings, last season’s Diomed Stakes win at Epsom and of course that vital course and distance form.

Lively Longshot – Dolphin Vista – 15:35 Doncaster

Richard Fahey’s four-year-old is a selection we tipped up in our dedicated Lincoln Handicap preview and we haven’t changed our minds.

Fahey has won this in two of the last five years and Dolphin Vista looks the most appealing of his five-strong hand.

Four-year-olds have a decent recent record in this race while those drawn in stall nine or higher have won the Lincoln in 10 of the last 14 years.

Our longshot will go from stall 10 and to further enhance his claims it’s also worth noting that the last six renewal winners have returned at prices ranging from 12/1 to 25/1. Fill your boots.
