Zac Purton’s treble at Sha Tin on Sunday means he isnow just one behind rival Joao Moreira in the Jockey’s Championship asthe battles rages on at Happy Valley on Wednesday with both riders securing afull book of nine rides each.

Gladiolus Handicap (11:45)

Loriz was on the front end of a furious pace lasttime out over 7f at Sha Tin, understandably fading in the final furlong. Lorizis firmly one of the favourites in the opening race and is 2/1with Zac Purton on board for the first time.

Super Lucky is a course and distance winner inadmirably consistent form of late and looks sure to be battling out the finishas long as the outside draw isn’t too much of an inconvenience. Super Lucky is 7/1to be first over the line.

Lotus Handicap (12:15)

Royal Racer is winless this season, albeit runningsome very encouraging performances. Could Joao Moreira make amends in the 12:15?

King’s Man was beaten by just a head last time out overthis trip posting some eye-catching closing sectionals and needs consideringagain here at 10/1.

Gladiolus Handicap (12:45)

Since joining Tony Millard’s yard Yee Cheong Pegasushasn’t finished outside the top two and could be a cut above this field at 13/8.

Bright Kid has his first start for trainer Chris Soand with Zac Purton on board is certainly one to watch at 9/2,especially if well supported in the betting.

Lotus Handicap (13:15)

Lightning Steed is always quick out the stalls andcould be hard to peg back here out of gate two if securing an easy lead.

Methane encountered some traffic issues last time outbut still managed to finish third, only half a length behind the winner. Ifgranted a clear run here, it will be no surprise to see him back in thewinner’s circle.

Gladiolus Handicap (13:45)

An impressive winner last time out, Destine Jewellerystayed on well at the finish for a cosy victory. There is every chance ofadding a second career win here with 9/2 odds if in the same vein ofform.

Returning from a 5 month break, Jazz Steed put in anencouraging recent barrier trial and could be one to spring a surprise here inthe 13:45.

Carnation Handicap (14:15)

Flying Genius is well drawn in stall two and a boldbid from the front under the talented Karis Teetan looks inevitable. Thistwo-time Course and Distance winner could figure strongly.

Larson (6/1) is a consistent sort who willgive the main selection a run for his money but will need to be at the top ofhis game from the outside draw.

Chamomile Handicap (14:45)

An open looking handicap in which none can be dismissed butit may pay siding with Such A Happiness, who has improved since joiningTony Millard last month.

Alpha Hedge was a disappointing favourite last timeout in a race that wasn’t run to suit. A much-improved performance can beexpected this time round.

Celosia Handicap (15:15)

California Rad (5/1) was a cosy winner lasttime out over 6f and should take this step up in class in his stride withfurther improvement expected.

The penny dropped late on for Superb Daddy last timeout in first time blinkers, making up good ground towards the finish. Theblinkers stay on here and warrants consideration with jockey Victor Wongclaiming 5lbs.

Camellia Handicap (15:50)

Private Secretary has been beaten by several in thisfield but won three times in the UK when trained by John Gosden before winninghis debut at this venue back in December.

Enrichment has been the bridesmaid in his last threeoutings but has obvious claims in his current form and looks sure to run a bigrace with Moreira in the saddle.
