InternationalHorse Racing continues from around the world on Thursday, with dirt action fromOaklawn Park in the United States a Trotting card from Halmstad in Sweden.

We’veenlisted the help of one of our traders to run through the action either sideof the Atlantic.

JohanUntersteiner at Halmstad

At lastweek’s Halmstad fixture Johan Untersteiner won on two of his fourdrives. The 35-year-old, who trains just a few miles from the track, saddledone of those winners too.

It was agood day for the Untersteiner family with Johan’s 59-year-old Austrian-bornfather Peter driving and training a winner on the card too.

The pairdrove 310 winners between them in 2019 with 166 for Peter at a near 16% strike-ratecompared to 144 for his son, who managed a strike-rate of just under 18%. Bothhave driven over 30 winners so far in 2020 and they have numerous chances toadd to their tallies at their local track on Thursday.

Untersteinerchances on Thursday

Peter, whohas trained over 3,000 winners from his Halmstad base since taking out atraining licence in 1987, perhaps has the stronger fancies on Thursday’scard.

Furies Rain looks to have a leading chance in three-year-old race at 11:42 despite not having the best draw. The colt won on his debut at Jägersro in November with Johan doing the steering, before finding just one too good at Åby on his return from a long break last time when his trainer Peter took over the driving.

Italian-bred Tragopan Jet is an interesting runner in the 12:26. The eight-year-old gelding is having his first start since joining the Peter Untersteiner stable.

With 16career victories, he has won over twice as many races as any of the otherentries in this contest and he ran creditably to finish third atBerlin-Karlshorst on his most recent start in November.

Johan Untersteiner drives: Cooling Break O.O. (11:20), Dizzy River (12:04), Global Warrior (12:26), Elle Titation (13:27).

Peter Untersteiner drives: Furies Rain (11:42), Lord L.S. (12:04), Tragopan Jet (12:26), Super Alice (12:47), Ritz Happy Star (13:07), Rosie Access (13:27).

OaklawnPark on Thursday

Racing at OaklawnPark in Arkansas is now drawing to a close for the season with only seven ofthis year’s scheduled 57 cards still to be run, and the first of those is anine-race card on Thursday evening.

SteveAsmussen earned over three times as much prize money at Oaklawn Park asany other trainer in 2019, and since their 2020 season began on January 24th,he has picked up over $3.5 million to sit clear at the top of the tableonce again.

In 2020 hehas sent out 40 winners at the Hot Springs venue and has had over 41% of hisrunners at the track finish in the top three.

RicardoSantana Jr. has ridden more winners at Oaklawn Park than any other jockeyin six of the last seven seasons and he currently tops the Oaklawn Parkjockeys’ table again this year with 48 winners at a strike rate of over 19%.

Oaklawn Oneto Watch

That pair combined for three winners here last week. They team up with four runners on Thursday’s card which should provide a decent chance of further success.

Seattle Slang, who broke her maiden at Fair Grounds last month on her first start as a three-year old looks to have strong claims in the three-year-old contest at 23:09 from stall two.

Steve Asmussen runners: Urbanite (21:06), Young Phillip (21:36), Fascilitator (22:06), Seattle Slang & Lightning Bug (23:09).

Ricardo Santana, Jr. booked rides: You’re Killin Me (19:35), Thornish (20:05), Roaring Fork (20:35), Urbanite (21:06), Young Phillip (21:36), Fascilitator (22:06), Out Of Trouble (22:38), Seattle Slang (23:09).
