Leading Jockey

Tyler Gaffalione is the jockey to look out for on Saturday with ten booked rides at Gulfstream.

Having ridden a double on Thursday, leading jockey at the SpringMeet bids to further extendhis lead over his nearest rival Luis Saez.

Thursday’s winners were numbers twenty and twenty-one for theFlorida-born rider during this current meeting and he hit the board on seven ofhis nine mounts that afternoon.

Winner of last season’s Preakness Stakes aboard War Of Will, it willbe a busy Saturday for the 25-year-old.

Leading Trainers

Todd Pletcher will undoubtedly feature amongst the leading trainers at thetrack again this year. He is the winner of a record sixteen Championship Meettitles at Gulfstream Park. 

Now approaching 5,000 career winners, Pletcher has three goodchances to add to that tally, all three ridden by the prolific Luis Saez,including Seize The Hay (20:48)

One trainer though who has begun the Spring Meet even faster thanPletcher is Saffie Joseph Jr. He has already bagged five winners from just twenty-fourstarts for a strike rate of 21% and has Perfect Revenge running in the 22:25.

Barbados born, Joseph Jr won his native country’s Triple Crownwhen he was just twenty-two, before leaving to join the US training ranks in2011.

Over the last four years the Barbadian’s career has blossomed. Lastyear’s figure of 95 winners was by far his best season yet with the highlightSeptember’s Pennsylvania Derby win for Math Wizard who provided Joseph Jr withhis first Grade One winner.
