Horse Racing Betting Tips: Our trader on Deauville and Gulfstream Park

The racing in France looked to have suffered a big blow on Tuesday evening when the Government decided that tracks in high-risk areas would not take place until a review has been conducted.
However, the eagle-eyed will have spotted that Longchamp’s now abandoned card has been moved to Deauville. And racing will still go ahead at several other French tracks including Nantes and Lyon-Parilly.
There’s also two Listed races on the card at Hannover in Germany and no fewer than five meetings in the US. With features from Gulfstream Park and Charles Town our man Joe Kyne talks us through the key runners and riders…
Race to Watch
The 10:40 Prix Gold River at Deauville looks a race to savour, a listed race for Fillies & Mares over 1m6f. It contains some big names in French racing and a few of the best jockeys in the land.
Christophe Soumillon rides Edisa in the colours of HRH the Aga Khan, who looks the stand-out having been placed in a Group two at Longchamp last autumn. She won’t have it all her own way though as challenger Think Of Me won by four lengths last time and has never been out of the first two.
It’s made an even more intriguing contest as a number of other big yards are represented and punters should disregard Andre Fabre’s runners at their peril. Hopefully a cracking renewal to start the day.
Gulfstream Park
One man it certainly pays to follow at Gulfstream is Irad Ortiz Jr, he’s been leading rider on the New York Thoroughbred horse racing circuit since 2012. Which has him top of the National Earnings List for Jockeys for the past two years.
After taking five weeks off Ortiz is back in simply incredible form and operating at a 31% strike-rate so far this season. It’s worth keeping an eye out for any of his rides, especially when he teams up with Wesley Ward.
However, one of his best chances on the whole card could be for Saffie Joseph Jr, in race three (18.45), on board Brasstown. The five-year-old hasn’t got any recent winning form but has been running in much better races than this.
He is proven over course and distance and this huge class drop and switch back to dirt from turf should be in his favour.
