She may be more commonly known for her handling of National Hunt horses, more specifically Champion Chaser Moscow Flyer, but Jessica Harrington is preparing an assault on the first classic meeting of the Flat season.

In Pathfork Harrington trains the 2/1 second favourite in the 2000 Guineas and the County Kildare trainer will also saddle Laughing Lashes, the 10/1 sixth favourite in the 1000 Guineas betting.

Ladbrokes are offering 65/1 that Harrington competes the 1000 and 2000 Guineas double in the first classic meeting of the season at Newmarket, and with the positive vibes that are emanating from the Irish stable, Harrington has every chance of the double.

“As of this moment they are both running and I’m happy with their progress,” said Harrington.

Harrington’s unbeaten Pathfork faces the toughest challenge in overcoming Frankel – 1/2 favourite for the 2000 Guineas and 5/1 favourite for the Derby – and Harrington understands the task facing her runners.

“I thought Frankel was awesome at Newbury and he looks the one to beat,” said Harrington.

“I would like rain on the Saturday night for Laughing Lashes in the following afternoon’s 1000 Guineas.”

The 1000 Guineas is a lot more open than the 2000 Guineas with Havant and Moonlight Cloud fighting for favouritism at the top of the 1000 Guineas betting – both are available at 5/1.

Laughing Lashes lost to Aiden O’Brien’s 8/1 chance in the 1000 Guineas betting, Misty For Me, on her last start, but having beaten the same horse on her previous run on softer ground, should the rain come, Laughing Lashes has to be fancied.

Memory and White Moonstone are the others at the head of the 1000 Guineas betting and both are available at 7/1.

A £10 stake on Jessica Harrington training the winner in the 1000 and 2000 Guineas would return £660. New customers can sign up here to take advantage of a free horse racing bet worth up to £30.
