Goodwood Day 2 Tips: Can Siskin deliver in a red-hot Sussex Stakes?

Viewers can look forward to what is arguably the race of the season at Glorious Goodwood on Wednesday as Siskin, Mohaather, Kameko and Circus Maximus do battle in the Sussex Stakes.
The quartet have already won some fantastic pots between them this season, including both the English and Irish 2000 Guineas as well as the Queen Anne at Royal Ascot.
Now the question is who’ll come out on top when they all square-off for a real duel on the Downs? It’s the feature contest in our Glorious Goodwood Day 2 Betting Tips.
RACE OF THE DAY – SUSSEX STAKES – GOODWOOD, 15:15
You can make a case for six of the seven runners in this red-hot renewal of the Sussex Stakes, but it’s from the top-four in the market where the winner is most likely to emerge.
Newmarket 2000 Guineas winner Kameko warrants respect back down at this trip, while Circus Maximus is a three-time Group 1 winner over a mile and won the Queen Anne last month.
But we think this could develop into a battle between Irish 2000 Guineas winner Siskin and Mohaather, who had no luck in-running when seventh to Circus Maximus in the Queen Anne.
Marcus Tregoning’s charge then showed his true colours in the Summer Mile to bolt up by over 3l, although he’ll probably need to discover even more improvement to beat Siskin.
The Irish challenger was a ready winner of the 2000 Guineas at The Curragh and gets an 8lb swing in the weights as he bids to become the seventh three-year-old winner of this race in 11 years.
Ger Lyons sends over regular jockey Colin Keane, who’ll serve a 14-day quarantine upon on his return to Ireland, while the ground should be to the First Defence colt’s liking as well.

It tends to pay to stick near the top of the market in the Molecomb Stakes. Seven of the last ten winners have come from the top two in the betting, including in each of the last three years.
We can’t predict who’ll go off favourite, but at the current prices it looks set to be a battle between two of Significantly, Steel Bull and Sardinia Sunset.
The foremost of the trio has been a bridesmaid on each of his three starts so far, while Steel Bull has had only one run, although that was a winning one on debut at Naas.
That leaves us with Sardinia Sunset, who also won on debut before finishing a very good fourth behind American raider Campanelle in a hot Queen Mary at Royal Ascot.
She regained the winning thread last time out in a Listed contest at York and in receipt of 3lb from the other market principals, Roger Varian’s inmate could be the one to beat.
ONE TO WATCH – YOU’RE ON HANDICAP – GOODWOOD, 13:45
ITV’s opening race of the afternoon is a tricky looking 2m 4½f contest, and as such there are plenty of chances throughout the 16-runner field.
True Destiny and Summer Moon make the shortlist, while it should be noted that dual-purpose trainers have an excellent record in the race over the last few years.
The in-form Alan King saddles Coeur De Lion fresh off the back of a tremendous victory in the Ascot Stakes last month, and he should go well even with a 3lb rise in the weights.
The Grand Visir is another who grabs our attention for a trainer in Ian Williams who has twice won this renewal in the last six seasons.
His raider enjoyed a nice comeback spin behind the smart Who Dares Wins in the Queen Alexandra and should be spot-on for another bold effort here.
