Friday’s race of the day: We look at the 16:50 at Hamilton

With the Oaks and the Derby at Epsom on Saturday, plus the Coral-Eclipse on Sunday, it’s safe to say this weekend’s racing is unlike any other.
So we’re getting the weekend up and running early with a look ahead to the 16:50 at Hamilton.
The James Bethell-trained Dawaaween looks to be the one to beat for this 1m ½f contest.
The four-year-old is in great nick. After a tidy second over 7 ½f at Beverley last month, the Bethell yard took her out to 1m ½ at Hamilton two weeks later, where she was right at home with the step up in trip, romping to a success 5l ahead of the pack.
Competition looks set to come from Richard Fahey’s Silver Dust, who has also enjoyed a fine season so far.
After finishing last term with a win at Kempton in March, the four-year-old looks to have maintained her form in the off-season, with a second on her seasonal return at Lingfield last month followed up with a win at Beverley in mid-June.
This could turn into the proverbial two-horse race, unless Gulf of Poets and Caustic Love can amount of challenge.
The former is a course and distance runner, but the eight-year-old will need to roll back the years to repeat her 2017 success, having disappointed in two runs so far this summer.
Keith Dalgleish’s Caustic Love has shown better though, picking up a pair of thirds in two runs at Ayr and Wolverhampton, the latter when at odds of 20/1.
Spiorad, King of Tonga and Sarvi will be eyeing up the place positions, with Edgar Allan Poe, Al Qahwa and Knighted the outside contenders.
