French Racing Tips: Our Trader looks ahead to Saint-Cloud

Published:

It’s a busy day of racing from Saint-Cloud on Tuesday. Our specialist Barrie Bushnell has picked out four races to look out for with his betting tips for the Parisian racecourse.

We move the shortdistance west from Longchamp, over the Seine, for Tuesday’s Saint-Cloudfixture. While we won’t see the like of any of the Group contests which weenjoyed on Longchamp’s card, there are still several interesting contests tolook forward to.

Prix Kashmir II (11:10)

This is a race forunraced three-year-old colts and geldings. Some of the top stables arerepresented with Andre Fabre introducing three newcomers, including aKarakontie colt, Undark (11:10),who fetched $250,000 as a foal at the Keeneland sales.

Fabre also trainsWesteros, by Kingman, who represents the powerful owners Al Shaqab Racing.

Others of interestlook to be Vasco De Gama, a €300k Dansili colt out of a mare whowas Grade Three placed and Whaze, by New Approach out of a GradeTwo winning dam.

Prix Praline (11:40)

Prix Praline is thefillies equivalent at 11:40.Again, there are some nice pedigrees on show but the one that really takes theeye is Godolphin’s Joyous Sounds.

She cost $1m and comesfrom the family of Ribblesdale Stakes winner Irresistible Jewel.

Perhaps, ridden by Christophe Soumillon and the Coolmore owned RoseD’Etoile also look worthy of consideration on Tuesday.

Prix Tourbillon (14:00)

There are two otherconditions races further down the card over an extended ten furlongs first up.The 14:00 card sees the reappearance of the exciting Enzel, who won his only start in November by a huge distance.

It may be that he wasthe only runner to handle the desperately heavy ground at Saint-Cloud that dayor he could be a potential star. This race should tell us more.

Prix Durban (14:35)

Just seven fillies tunout for the Prix Durban (14:35)and the form choice looks to be Anobar; she’s yet to run a bad racebut somehow remains a maiden after nine starts.

She posted anexcellent third when last seen in March in the Listed Prix La Camargo and looksto have a favourite’s chance on that form.

Compiegne winner Vienne, trained by Jean-Claude Rouget, looks to be her main rival.
