We’re looking forward to another action-packed day of racing from Saint-Cloud on Tuesday with a ten-race card featuring the Prix Birum and the Prix Nubienne.
Our man on the trading floor Joseph Kyne has previewed both contests, which will be live to watch on Sky Sports Racing from 11:10am.
Two of France’s best jockeys, Cristian Demuro and Pierre-Charles Boudot are both in action here and on paper both have excellent chances of returning to the winner’s circle.
Demuro rides likely-favourite Moujik. A winner on his only start, trainer Jean Claude Rouget is an absolute powerhouse and will no doubt have his charge tuned up for his first start this year.
Boudot will be looking to spoil the party on National Service, who was formerly trained in the UK.
Although the horse never achieved very much on these shores, after more than two years off the gelding managed to win a good Chantilly maiden on his first attempt, beating some smart-looking horses in the process.
Ultimately it should come down to a straight shoot-out between these two and any fitness edge could be the difference.
Demuro picks up another ride for Rouget in this renewal and it could be on a bit of a special one with Waahaat looking impressive under Demuro on her first start, winning nicely by 2½l .
In what was a bit of an upset, she was beaten a short-head last time out but was over 3l clear of her rivals and the pair will be looking to get back on track here.
Life could be made difficult though as the field includes two fillies coming into this off the back of a win in the form of Black Fever and Mary’s France.
he former is another Rouget inmate and although some might think that it’s significant that Demuro has chosen to stay with the Al-Maktoum-owned runner over this daughter of Invincible Spirit, Coralie Pacaut is an excellent young jockey and clearly gets on well with the filly.
We are offering a number of extra places on handicaps at 12:50, 13:25, 14:00, 14:45 and 15:10.
