Frankie Dettori previews his rides for Royal Ascot

In his latest blog, Ladbrokes ambassador Frankie Dettori looks ahead to some of his rides on Tuesday and Wednesday of Royal Ascot.

Frankie Dettori: I start the week on Calyx in the Coventry Stakes. It is a full field and I don’t know how good the others are but Calyx made a very good impression on his career start.

It will obviously be a big test for him and I haven’t got much judgement on him yet so we will have to wait and see.

I ride Without Parole in the St James’s Palace Stakes, a race that looks very competitive.

Although he hasn’t achieved a lot so far, his homework’s been good, he comes here fresh, and I am just hoping for a good run.

In the Wolferton Stakes, I am on Monarch’s Glen, who is on a little bit of a recovery mission.

He lost the plot in Dubai and hopefully he keeps a lid on is antics. I think he is good enough to redeem himself.

On Wednesday, I have Chelsea Cloisters in the Queen Mary. I just hope she is another Lady Aurelia! I have looked at her form and she won by eight lengths over four and a half furlongs!

You have to respect anything of Wesley Ward’s and I am really looking forward to joining up with him this week.

In Queen’s Vase, I’m on Stream Of Stars. Obviously it will be a very competitive race.

He had a good run last time at Ascot. My only worry is that he lacks a bit of speed but again he should have a decent race.

Cracksman needs to introduction. I just can’t wait to ride him. Ascot suits him and I just hope he does his thing.

The Jersey Stakes looks a tough race. I ride Purser, who has more of a place chance than winning it. I would be surprised to see him win.

Later in the week I am particularly looking forward to Australian sprinter Redkirk Warrior in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes.

He’s a three-time Group One winner and the Australians are mustard on turf sprinting. I hope another Australian champion does his stuff.

Enjoy the week!
