Racing in the UK might be cancelled until the end of April but Ireland are keeping the show on the road with a tasty looking eight-race card at Dundalk from 13:30.
And while there may not be a crowd in attendance to witness the action unfold, there are plenty of familiar faces on show, including Joseph O’Brien and Henry De Bromhead.
Trainer to watch
There’s no doubt who’s top dog at Dundalk this season amongst the training ranks! Look no further than the young master Joseph O’Brien, who has notched up 14 winners from 63 winners at the track in 2010.
Joseph runs five on the card this Friday and his best chance look to be Juliet Rose in the 15:00. She took a big step forward on her latest start here when she was run down in the closing stages and this race looks like a good opportunity for her to shed her maiden tag.
Horse to watch
Aerclub will have the combined might of the young O’Brien brothers to contend with in the 14:00 – as Joseph runs Line Judge and Donnacha runs Flower Garland against him.
Aerclub looked promising when causing a surprise here over course and distance on his debut and he can notch another win for his trainer Henry de Bromhead.
De Bromhead is better known as a National Hunt trainer and is fresh from Cheltenham Festival glory last week, where he enjoyed success with Put The Kettle On in the Arkle and Honeysuckle in the Mares’ Hurdle.
Jockeys to watch
Declan McDonagh (eight wins from 38 rides) and Ronan Whelan (eight wins from 41 rides) top the charts at Dundalk this year and they are both in action on Friday. Keep an eye out for their mounts!
McDonagh’s Rides: 14:00 Line Judge, 15:00 Juliet Rose.
Whelan’s Rides – 14:00 Strip Light, 15:30 Global Pass, 16:00 Gougane Barra, 17:00 Lazy Susan.
