We have another busy day ahead of us with runners at Chepstow and Wetherby.
Bridget heads to Chepstow to ride Shannon Bridge (2.10). He has been running over fences but we just feel he is still a year off settling into the chasing sphere so we are giving him a few runs over hurdles between now and the end of the season.
I don’t know what his mark is like back over hurdles because we haven’t tried it this season, but the track will suit and the ground will suit and so will the trip.
Harry will be at Wetherby where his first ride for us is Betameche (12.35). He had some very good bumper form before he had a long time off.
He ran okay for a way at Newbury last time but obviously has to step up on that. I would like to see a bit more than that basically.
It’s too soon to be predicting what chance he has of winning because he has a big step forward to make here.
I was happy with Red Rising (1.10) last time when he ran in a good novice chase at Huntingdon. Again the trip, track and ground here will be fine for him.
It’s quite a competitive novice chase nonetheless and I would like to see him run well again but I hesitate to say he is going to win what is a competitive race.
I like Flegmatik (1.40), a big horse by Fuisse who joined us from France in the autumn. He is going to be a chaser but he has to start his career over hurdles in the UK.
He had one run at Auteuil where he jumped well that day.
He needs to step forward on that but we have given him plenty of time since he arrived and we like what we’ve seen at home. I wouldn’t be going wild in saying he is a definite winner but he should go and run well.
Marracudja (2.15) ran really well in a £100,000 plus handicap chase at Ascot last time finishing third.
I thought the ground could have been a bit softer for him so hopefully it will be a bit softer here where he would have another each way chance.
Rocku (3.20) didn’t jump great on his first run for us but travelled very well and looked like he might win going to the last.
I think the mistakes on the way round cost him a bit. We’ve done plenty with his jumping in the meantime.
He is on an honest mark so needs to step up on his Market Rasen run. We are hoping he will be a bit sharper for that so he has got to have a chance.
