Harry Skelton goes to Haydock for us on Saturday. He rides Crucial Role in the Novices’ Chase (1.30) and although there are not many runners, it’s a competitive race. We are very happy with this horse.
He took a big step forward at Uttoxeter and I think we can go and run well again. I’ve got a lot of respect for all the competitors; it’s a strong race.
In the Rossington Main Novices’ Hurdle (2.05), we run Idee De Garde. He’d have an each-way chance.
He ran nicely on his first start. He’s a maiden still but I am happy with the horse. We’re sticking to good races as if he’s still a novice next year it wouldn’t be the end of the world.
We run Mohaayed in the Champion Hurdle Trial (2.40). We were delighted with him winning at Ascot before Christmas. He looks fantastic, he jumped nicely today, and he’s ready to get going. We are really looking forward to this one.
We’ve got Three Musketeers in the Peter Marsh Handicap Chase (3.15).
His run the last day at Newbury was a bit better but his form numbers haven’t been fantastic recently. We need a big return to form for him. I suppose it’s not beyond the realms of possibility as he’s got a nice low weight in this.
Over at Ascot, Bridget Andrews rides New Quay (2.25) in Grade 3 Handicap Hurdle.
It was a great run at Ascot in November. Then I ran him too quickly at Newbury so I am drawing a line through that.
I think he’s got a fair each-way chance in this. He likes the track and knows how to run well around there.
Get On The Yager (3.00) has taken a good step forward for Wetherby.
He might be a horse with an each-way chance in this. He’s never won off this higher mark before but I do feel like he’s coming back to form.
