I am really looking forward to getting the winter season started. We’ve had a good October to date; the horses have been running well and I am happy with everything.
We had a nice summer albeit we didn’t have as many winners as last summer but that was never the plan.
This year we are a little bit more natural and organic, but luckily, we are still having a great time of it.
We are delighted to be at Chepstow for the next two days to start the National Hunt season properly.
Diomede Des Mottes (2.10) won the other day but takes a massive step up in grade here. We are just going to see where we are hurdling before we go chasing. He has been fantastic wining his last two starts but is taking on a lot better here.
Proschema (2.45) is first up in a two mile novices’ hurdle. He’s a high class flat horse and jumps nicely at home.
It’s quite a competitive little race as you’d expect but we are very happy with him and hopefully he can go on to be a good novice hurdler this year.
Ardlethen (3.20) is next up and this race will really suit him. He has done plenty of work and looks fantastic.
I should think he’d improve a bit as you’d expect at this time of year. I just can’t wait to get started. I think he’s got an exciting year ahead.
King D’argent (4.30) runs in the 4yo handicap hurdle; a race we have won before. We haven’t been throwing lots of horses at it in the last couple of years, but we are really happy with this horse.
I am sure plenty of other trainers will say the same about their horses, but this really has been the plan for him since he came in.
