Dan Skelton discusses his weekend runners at Hereford and Warwick
With Cheltenham just days away, it is a quieter weekend on the track for us naturally, but we have runners at Hereford and Warwick to look forward to.
Starting with Hereford; we run Northofthewall (2.20) who carries a double penalty which is difficult to giveaway.
That said, there is probably only one in the race that looks like it has the form to beat ours. He is in good form at home and I would have to give him a chance.
In the same race, we run The Rosary Flyer who hasn’t looked good enough in novice hurdles yet but hopefully he will make his mark one day in the game because he is a big, scopey horse.
Go Steady runs in the Novices’ Handicap Chase (3.30) and I think he has got a very good chance. He has come out of his race at Warwick well and he looks great.
At Warwick on Sunday we have a handful of runners and there are a few later on in the card that probably have good chances. Earlier on in the card, we are not looking too hopeful.
We run two in the first; Checkinforsquirels and Rollo (2:00). Basically, we have just got to get them started. I don’t think they are good enough for novice hurdles but we need to get going.
Etamine Du Cochet runs in a Mares’ Chase (2.30) with only six runners. She ran last weekend and she needs to get some more experience of the bigger obstacles. She doesn’t have the form or handicap mark to be threatening.
Robin Gold and So Lonely (3.05) haven’t looked exactly well handicapped and I think they will struggle.
Terrierman (4.40) would have a chance. He stays well and we have had this race in mind for a good while. It is quite a deep race but He’s consistent and should have a chance again.
Delgany Delta is a nice young horse in the bumper (5.10). He’s done plenty of work and we are happy with him. He is going to improve a lot for the experience, and I think he will be jumper down the line.
