Copperhead new favourite to win the Ladbrokes Trophy at Newbury

Copperhead is the new 8/1 favourite to win the Ladbrokes Trophy at Newbury later this month.
The Colin Tizzard-trained gelding is now leading the way after former frontrunner Topofthegame was ruled out with a leg injury.
Last year’s runner-up The Conditional is the 10/1 second-favourite alongside Aye Right. At 12s is the Kim Bailey-trained pair of Vinndication and Two For Gold with 2019 winner De Rasher Counter at 14/1.
Ladbrokes spokesman Jon Lees said: “Topofthegame’s challenge for the Ladbrokes Trophy under top weight was already drawing comparison with race legend Denman so his absence from the race is a real disappointment.
As a result we now have Copperhead, whose stable has won the race twice in the last four years, as favourite and have shortened others behind him, including last year’s first and second De Rasher Counter and The Conditional.”
