There will certainly be a number of quality horses taking their place in the Ascot betting for Champions Day and below we give our best selections for the five big races on the card.
13:50 Darley Sun @ 33/1
Darley Sun is a former winner of the Cesarewitch at Newmarket and although he has gone off the boil largely since, he could run into the places now that he is dropped back in trip to 2m.
His chances are also aided by the fact that Fame And Glory has totally lost his way of late and Opinion Poll can take a while to stoke up, which is potentially problematic under the controversial new whip rules.
14:25 Night Carnation @ 16/1
Moonlight Cloud was mightily impressive when winning a Group One in France last time and will take all of the beating if producing something similar at Ascot.
But she disappointed on her only previous visit to England for the 1,000 Guineas so a chance is taken on Night Carnation handling the faster ground.
She was a tidy winner at Sandown back in July and potentially needed the run since when chasing home Deacon Blues last time at Newbury, which was also a course that failed to ideally play to her strengths.
15:00 Ferdoos @ 4/1
She had many of these behind when triumphing at Haydock in May and arguably it was many of her rivals that were better suited to conditions that day, whether it be the way the race was run or having a run already in the season.
Ferdoos looks capable of holding her own in Group One company and Roger Varian has arguably been targeting the horse at this race based on her recent lack of racing.
15:35 Frankel @ 1/2
Frankel is Frankel and it is surely his own eagerness to set off too fast that can see him beaten.
16:10 Dubai Prince @ 7/1
Dubai Prince is unbeaten in three races and could have been a major player in the big Group races earlier this summer had it not been for injury.
He will have his hands full with Nathaniel and So You Think but has more than a solid chance of at worst finishing in the places and has been praised this week by Kieren Fallon.
