Kuchar to double up at Deutsche Bank Championship
Published:Matt Kuchar sealed his first win of the year at the Barclays with victory in a playoff over Martin Laird and now leads the FedEx cup points standings on 3,937 points.
In-form Kuchar has had 10 top-10 finishes this year and after closing the Barclays with a five-under-par round of 66, he cannot be ruled out for victory at the Deutsche Bank Championship which starts in Boston on Thursday and is 25/1 to repeat his victory.
The second leg of the FedEx Cup playoffs moves north to the TPC Boston course, a course where Steve Stricker won last year after coming so close in the Barclays the previous week, and Stricker’s form this year is mirrors last years antics.
The American fired a final round 66 to finish tied for third on Sunday and will the enter the Deutsche Bank Championship as reigning champion in tremendous form, form so strong that the field will find it tough wrestling the trophy away from his grasp.
Stricker currently lies second in the FedEx standings on 2,572 points and third in the US Money List and a win at Boston, 12/1 to do so, will give him a great chance of topping the US Money List of which he is 5/1 to win without Tiger Woods in the running.
TPC Boston favours the players that can hit a high percentage of greens in regulation and with the forecast suggesting strong winds, accuracy is a must for any desire of victory.
One man that fits this description is Jason Day and he will be hoping to improve on his top-20 performance in last year’s event and is a big price at 50/1.
