After months of speculation and two weeks of pre-season testing, it’s finally time to go racing as the 2020 Formula One season begins in Australia.

Lewis Hamilton is again the man to beat, having won his sixth world championship last season in dominating fashion.  The 35-year-old is now eyeing a seventh title, to bring himself level with Michael Schumacher.

Hamilton is 4/9 favourite to win this year’s championship, but may face a season-long fight from 5/1 shot Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc at 13/2. We’ll get our first proper clues as to how the season will pan out this weekend…

After impressing in pre-season testing, Mercedes duo Hamilton and team-mate Valtteri Bottas are favourites to win in Melbourne this weekend.

Hamilton heads the betting at 11/10, with Bottas, seeking a second successive win at the Albert Park venue, available at 7/2.

Verstappen and his Red Bull team have made it clear that a strong start to the season is key to their championship aspirations. The Dutchman performed wonders at times in 2019, and is 4/1 to kick-start his 2020 campaign with victory.

And what about Ferrari? The Italian squad were somewhat downcast in winter testing, with concerns that their new engine is lacking power.

That may not be such a big issue Down Under, but Leclerc is only fourth-favourite in the betting at 5/1, with team-mate Sebastian Vettel next up at 7s.

Looking further down the grid, the Racing Points look like they could spring a surprise or two in the early races of the season. The team raised eyebrows with their 2020 motor, which boasts a number of notable similarities to last season’s Mercedes.

Mexican Sergio Perez is 19/20 for a top-six finish, with Lance Stroll at 7/4.

Home hero Daniel Ricciardo will be hoping his Renault can bring him back to the front of the pack this season. The Aussie endured a difficult 2019, but posted some tidy times in pre-season testing and can be backed at 7/2 for a top-six finish.
