USA Women v England Women Betting Tips: Can England get revenge?
When these two giants of the women’s game meet it’s always a huge occasion, but with their World Cup semi-final match still fresh in the minds, it’s upped the stakes on this latest meeting.
It was only last July that the USA edged The Lionesses 2-1 to progress to the World Cup final – with thrills, spills and VAR decisions aplenty.
And on the eve of this SheBelieves Cup clash, Megan Rapinoe has said called the rivalry between their pair ‘huge’, just highlighting the enormity of the game.
The last time the USA didn’t win a game – including the World Cup final last summer – was against this very opponent in this very competition in 2019.
The pair played out a 2-2 draw in Nashville andyou can get a repeat of that scoreline at 18/1.
It was a tournament that England eventually won and they’re11/9for victory tonight.
But the formidable Stars & Stripes are favourites at 4/9 to grab a second successive win over the Lionesses.
Phil Neville must make do without the injured pair of Lucy Bronze and Beth Mead for the tournament – both have been key members of his squad since he came in.
The England manager has drafted in three uncapped players including teenage striker Lauren Hemp who has vowed to ‘play with no fear’ if selected.
But skipper Steph Houghton alongside goal-getters Ellen White and Beth England will be crucial to get their campaign off the flyer.
New US manager Vlatko Andonovski should start Rapinoe, but her World Cup final replacement Christen Press will feel hard done by to miss out.
However, World Cup hero Alex Morgan is on maternity leave, so the likes of Carli Lloyd and Rapinoe will need to step up again.
White is always a nuisance for the US defence, and we go 15/2 that she strikes the game’s first goal.
England has been in great form for Chelsea this season and is 3/1 to notch her first competitive international goal.
Rapinoe lines up at 3/2 anytime with Press at 7/4 to hit the onion bag. Tobin Heath is 15/8 anytime.
