Turkey v Wales betting tips: Win would put Page boys on brink

Euro 2016 semi-finalists Wales got their group campaign up and running with an excellent draw against Switzerland at the weekend but their next match against Turkey is now even more important.
Rob Page’s men were under the cosh against the Swiss and had VAR to thank for ruling out a late winner, with them starting as 9/4 underdogs to beat the Turks in Baku and all but secure qualification to the knockout stage.
It promises to be a tense occasion in Azerbaijan, so let’s examine some of the other odds and markets in our Turkey v Wales betting tips.
Match Odds
Turkey got the tournament under way with a 3-0 defeat by Italy on Friday night and they are 11/10 to qualify for the last 16 while the Dragons are 8/11.
An own goal from Merih Demiral early in the second half put the Italians in front before Ciro Immobile and Lorenzo Insigne made the points safe in Rome.
Turkey went into the tournament with high expectations having beaten Netherlands and Norway in World Cup qualifying but they got what they deserved from a passive display against the Azzurri.
Head coach Senol Gunes said: “They were more dominant than us. We lost the ball so many times and this just gave the advantage to our opponents.”
That was the case in the opening games for both Wales and Turkey, so the first 45 minutes to be drawn is priced at 5/6.
With so much at stake both teams to score is 11/10 and goals at both ends in the second half is 14/5.
Wales showed more willing in their clash with the Swiss who aren’t in the same league as Italy, so Gareth Bale and co are 27/10 to win and under 3.5 goals while Turkey are 7/4 in the same market or 19/4 to win and both teams to score.
Talking Tactics
Page deployed a 4-2-3-1 formation against the Swiss with Kieffer Moore up top and Bale playing on the right.
Wales’ defence was given a tough time by Borussia Monchengladbach striker Breel Embolo, although 35-year-old forward Burak Yilmaz is unlikely to be so full of running.
Winger Hakan Calhanoglu looked the most dangerous player for Turkey and he is likely to start on the left once again in a 4-1-4-1 system, in which Okay Yokuslu plays the holding role.

Moore‘s brilliant header against Switzerland came despite a bandage on his forehead sustained in a clash of heads with Kevin Mbabu.

The Cardiff striker should be fit to start and is 11/2 to break the deadlock or 3/1 to get on the scoresheet again, although Bale is the favourite to get the opener at 4/1 despite failing to find the net in 12 games for his country.
Daniel James looked lively on Saturday and the Manchester United winger is 11/1 and 11/2 in the two markets while, for Turkey, Yilmaz is 12/5 to get on the scoresheet having been denied by a brilliant last-ditch tackle from Giorgio Chiellini in stoppage time.
