Sweden v Poland betting tips: Victory mission for Poles

Spain were expected to finish top of Group E but Sweden are at the summit with four points ahead of Wednesday’s clash with Poland who have drawn one and lost one of their two games.
Sweden qualified for the knockout stage thanks to favourable results on Monday and are 15/8 underdogs to win in St Petersburg which would ensure they face one of the four best third-placed teams.
It promises to be an exciting clash in Russia and we’ve highlighted some of the markets for our Sweden v Poland betting tips.
Match Odds
Robert Lewandowski kept Poland’s hopes of reaching the last 16 alive with the equaliser in a 1-1 draw against Spain and they are 8/5 favourites to end a five-match losing run against Sweden between 1999 and 2004.
Sweden have come in for criticism for their negative approach play which saw them hold Spain to a goalless draw despite having just 15% possession and that figure was just 42% in the 1-0 victory over Slovakia in which Emil Forsberg struck the winner from the penalty spot.
The Swedes are already through to the last 16 and a draw at 21/10 would be enough to see them top the group if Slovakia and Spain also end all square. A third successive level opening 45 minutes is 10/11 while 0-0 is available at 27/20.
A win for Poland coupled with a victory for either team in the Spain v Slovakia match will secure a place in the top two and they are priced at 21/10 to bag three points and under 3.5 match goals against a team that will finish in third if they lose.
The Poles have scored and conceded in their last five matches which is available at 10/11 and have also leaked the first goal in their previous three.
Sweden are 11/10 to score the first goal and 7/2 to be 1-0 up at half-time, bearing in mind the Poles have been trailing by that scoreline in both group games.
Talking Tactics
Sweden have been one of the least adventurous sides at Euro 2020 but Janne Amdersson’s tactics have already produced the desired result so he is likely to keep faith with a traditional 4-4-2 in which youngster Alexander Isak leads the line with Marcus Berg.
Grzegorz Krychowiak returns to Poland’s midfield having served a suspension for his dismissal against Slovakia, so one of Mateusz Klich or Jakub Moder are likely to make way.
Poland are set to stick with a 3-5-2 formation in which Lewandowski plays up front with Karol Swiderski.
Goalscorer Odds
Only a win will suffice for Poland so it’s no surprise to see Lewandowski leading the first goalscorer and anytime markets at 13/5 and 11/10 while strike partner Swiderski is 6/1 and 3/1 by the same measure.
For Sweden, Isak and Berg are the 5/1 joint favourites to break the deadlock, although the former is slightly shorter at 5/2 just to get on the scoresheet while the veteran is 13/5.
