Saturday 21st March: What sport is on?

It’s theweekend! Although not as we know it. However, while the Premier League et alare on hiatus, there are still some of the usual Saturday staples to lookforward too from the UK and across the globe.

Here’s our guide to what’s happening on Saturday 21st March.

HorseRacing

Live sporton the box is at a premium. So we’re happy to report that the ITV Racing crewwill be bringing you five contests on a seven-race card from Thurles in Irelandon Saturday.

There’s probably never been so much interest in the Tipperary track. But with some cracking renewals on show, including the Grade 3 Pierce Molony Memorial Chase, we can’t wait.

Elsewhere,Turffontein gets underway with nine races at 10:55, while US action comes fromFair Grounds and Santa Anita, including a pair of Grade 3 fixtures.

Durbanville,Rosehill and Hanshin in Japan complete the set on a busy day of internationalracing.

Football

There’s a proverbialbuffet of football to choose from. It all gets underway with a cracker fromDown Under as Western Sydney Wanderers and Sydney FC go head-to-head in theSydney derby at 08:30.

Our traders havethe visitorsdown as even-money favourites, with the hosts back at 11/5. Ex-WestBrom man SimonCox is a 7/1 chance to open the scoring, with Adam Le Fondre 5/6Anytime for Sydney FC.

We’ve thengot two match-ups from the Belarusian Premier League, including Vitebsk vGorodeya and Isloch v Neman Grodno, plus action from Palestine, Aruba and theHong Kong FA Cup.

Greyhounds

Dog really has been man’s best friend over the past week. Indeed, UK and Irish Greyhound Racing remains largely unaffected with a further 11 meetings scheduled to take place on Saturday.

Harlow gets the day underway at 08:12. They’ll be swiftly followed by Perry Barr, Doncaster, Henlow, Hove, Monmore, Peterborough, Romford, Newcastle and Sheffield, with the last race pencilled in for Crayford at 22:35.

NRL

The new NRL seasoncontinues with three more match-ups, starting with NZ Warriors v CanberraRaiders at 04:00 in the morning. The Raiders are odds-on to get the job donein this one as 1/4 favourites.

Then it’s on to Sydney Roosters v Manly Sea Eagles at 06:30 before Cronulla Sharks v Melbourne Storm later at 08:35. The Roosters and the Storm are both expected to triumph, sharing a price of 1/2 each.

AFL

That’sright! There’s even more sport from Australia with four AFL fixtures, starting at03:10 as 17/10 outsiders Fremantle Dockers bid to upset the EssendonBombers, who are odds-on at 1/2.

They’refollowed by Adelaide Crows v Sydney Swans at 06:05 before Gold CoastSuns take on Port Adelaide Power and Greater Western Sydney Giants host theGeelong Cats, both at 08:40.

Chess

Indoorsports like Snooker and Darts may have been hit but Chess rumbles on. There arefourfixtures from the Candidates Tournament, as eight players fight it outfor the chance to face Magnus Carlsen.

eSports

A busy weekin the world of eSports is about to get a whole lot more frantic with no fewerthan 11 separate leagues operating on Saturday.
